Magdalena Fisher Bixenman, age 93, of Hospers, died Saturday, August 22, 1998 at the Country View Manor in Sibley.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 25 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers. Reverend James Tigges officiated. Burial was at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Hospers under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Magdalena was born April 11, 1905 at Mendota, Illinois, the daughter of Michael and Clara (Metzen) Friedrich. At the age of six, Magdalena moved where she raised and educated. She married Fredrick Fischer January 13, 1926 at Hospers. They famed near Hospers until Mr. Fischer’s death on September 5, 1962. She moved into Sheldon in 1962 and married Chris Bixenman May 25, 1964 at Sheldon. They made their home at Salisbury, Missouri. Mr. Bixenman died June 20, 1965. She then returned to Sheldon. She entered Leisure Pine Retirement Home in Ashton in 1987 and had been a resident of Country View Manor in Sibley since 1993.

Mrs. Bixenman was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, John and Catherine Fischer of Sheldon, Gerald and Yvonne Fischer of Rock Valley, Harold and Ardell Fischer of Fulda, Minnesota and Jerome and Rita Fischer of Hospers; two daughters, Rosanne and her husband Firmin Goebel of Rushmore, Minnesota, and Christine Sauer of Sheldon; 34 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one step great-great-grandson; two sisters, Catherine Fischer of Sheldon and Rose and her husband Vincent Bange of St. Louis, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Isabell Fredrick of Madison, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rosella in infancy and Marian when a young child; a son Fredrick in infancy; a granddaughter, Julie Fischer; a son-in-law, Donald Sauer; a brother, John Friedrich; and six sisters, Mary Fischer, her twin sister, Margaret Friedrich when a child; Thedora Friedrich, Geneive Bange, Johana Block and Agnes Friedrich.
