David Burkett died at the home of his son, Marquis D. in Oskaloosa, on Friday, February 27th. The interment took place at Union Hill cemetery in Ireton the following Tuesday. The funeral services were conducted by the Masonic lodge.

Note: No cemetery Headstone is recorded for David. His wife Eliza J. (Jane) was born about 1829 died 29 Mar 1874 buried in Union Hill cemetery rural Ireton IA. Several other Burket family members are buried there including a 9 year old Ella died 15 Jun 1880 daughter of D & E. J.)
