Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Buma, long time Rock Valley resident, were held at . 1 p.m. in the Porter Funeral home and 1:30 p.m. in the First Christian Reformed church, Rock Valley Monday, July 22. Rev John Byker officiated. Special music was provided by John F. Vande Kerk, soloist, and Mrs. Edwin "Van Oriel, organist. Interment was in Valley View cemetery, Rock Valley: Pallbearers were Harry Van Beek, William Brands, Melvin Barnds, Gerrit J. Brands, Jr., Elmer Visser and Albert Brands.

Mrs Buma, nee Maria Otten, was born in The Netherlands Dec. 1, 1898. She was married to Fred Buma in Hock Valley March 31, 1921.

Survivors include a son, Harry Buma, Rock Valley; three daughters, Mrs Lubbert Niessink, Mrs Peter Vanden Top, Rock Rapids, Mrs Alvin Bonestroo, Hull; one sister and one brother in The Netherlands, a brother in Pella and a sister, Mrs. John Brands, Rock Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband and a child in infancy.

Note: Marriage record lists her marriage on 31, Mar 1921 at Rock Valley. Her parents were Wilben Otten and Tunnisje Van Donkelaar. Fred’s parents were Hielke Buma and Akke van der Meer.
