Hawarden Independent of Oct 26, 1922

Mrs. Sarah Bullford, for many years a resident of this vicinity, passed away last Friday at the home of her son, W. T. Bullford, near Princeton, Minn. Her death was due to the infirmities incident to her advanced age, she having passed her 85th year. She had been in failing health for the past three years. On Monday, Oct. l6lh, it was observed that she was not as well as usual and by Friday morning her condition became so critical that her son, J. E. Bullford, was summoned from here to her bedside but she passed away before his arrival there. The funeral was held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at Princeton, Minn., and interment was made in the cemetery at that place.

Sarah Goatley was born in Oxfordshire England, in 1837. In 1877 she was united in marriage with Walter Bullford and came to the United States in 1882. For ten years they lived in the vicinity of LeMars and Ireton and in 1892 she moved to the farm, 21 miles south of Hawarden, where she resided until the summer of 1918 when on account of her failing health she went to Princeton, Minn., to make her home with her son, W. T. Bullford and family. She was a member of the Episcopal church of England but during her residence in this country was a faithful attendant at the Congregational church.

She is survived by two sons, W. (William) T. Bullford of Princeton, Minn., and J. (James) E. Bullford of Hawarden. She also leaves one brother in New Zealand and numerous nieces and nephews in England. She has many old friends in this vicinity who will learn of her demise with sincere sorrow,
(See obit of her husband Walter Bullford 1847-1904)
