William (Walter) Bulford has been taken to the county poor farna at Orange Citv. Years ago ho was a fairly well-to-do farmer. Habitual drinking was the cause of his breakdown in health and wealth.

Hawarden Independent of Dec 1, 1904

Wm. (Walter) Bulford was taken to the county poor farm at Orange City last Saturday. He was a fairly well-to do farmer a number of years ago but excessive drinking has broken him down, both in health and in purse. For the past year be has done little or nothing for a livelihood and now tlwt his funds are exhausted it was thought best to give him a home at the county poor farm where with proper care he may recuperate.

Of late he has been in a semi demented state of mind and care for him was absolutely necessary.
