Earnest Samuel Eisma, 42 , well known Ireton farmer passed away Tuesday, October 10, at the Hawarden Hospital where he had been a patient for 16 days. His stay there followed several months of confinement in a Rochester, Minnesota Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday in the First Reformed Church at Ireton. Reverend Stephen Veldhui, former minister of the Church, now living in Stoney Creek, Canada arrived by plane to be with the family and conducted the funeral services. Mrs. Kramer, organist, accompanied the men’s quartet of the church composed of Marvin De Boer, Walter Schipper, Jerold De Boer and Willard Huitink.

Pallbearers were Curtis De Vrier, Donald Eisma, Butch Eisma, Dennis Eisma, Kenneth De Boer, and Larry Brunsting.

Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Dow Funeral Home. Military Rites were conducted at the Cemetery by Bertram Post of the American Legion.

Earnest Eisma was born at Hawarden February 5, 1925, a son of Sipke and Jennie Eisma. He was married March 15, 1949, to Edna B. Kuyper at Carmel, Iowa. He had farmed near Ireton all his life.

Mr. Eisma was a member of the First Reformed Church, a member of Bertram Post of the American Legion, and an overseas veteran of the Army during the World War II.

Survivors are his wife, Edna; four daughters, Lorraine, Janice, Audrey and Susan, all in elementary school; his mother, Mrs. Sipke Eisma of Ireton, one sister, Mrs. Sadie De Vries of Ireton, and five brothers, Sidney, Pete and Allen of Ireton, Burton of Merrill, Iowa and Eugene of Inwood, Iowa.
