The death of Mrs. Gerrit VandenBrink sr. occurred last Friday morning November 29th, 1912, at her home in Boyden after a short illness of lung trouble. Deceased was born in the Netherlands on April 22, 1834 and was 78 years, 7 months and seven days old at the time of her death. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 o'clock from the house and 2:00 o'clock from the U. P. church, Rev. A. W. De Jonge of Hull having charge of the services. Interment was made in the Boyden cemetery beside the remains of her husband who was laid to rest two years before.

Mrs. Vanden Brink was a faithful mother and has raised her children as only a good mother can, she has led a Christian life, but her closing chapter in life's record has been made and the book closed. All the good or all the evil that may be said at this time will not alter it any. The fine floral offerings were expression of the esteem in which she was held, Peace be to her dust.

Note: The marriage record found on www.wiewaswie.nl - Gerrit Van den Brink 26 yrs of age married Dirkje Verhoef, 24, on 9 Sep 1858 at Ermelo, Gelderland, Netherlands, her parents were Art VerHoef and Aaltje Hamer, his parents were Evert Van den Brink and Gijsbertje Vande Poel.

Alton Democrat issue of 7 Dec 1912, Boyden column.

Grandma Vanden Brink died at her home last Saturday after an illness which lasted a week. She had been suffering with lung fever, but was getting a little better. Funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church. Rev. De Jong of Hull conducting the services. Interment was held in the Boyden cemetery.
