Funeral services for Mrs. William Grooters,91, were held Friday, April 18 at the First Reformed Church of Sheldon at 1:30 P.M. with the Reverend Harris Ver Kalk officiating. Burial was made at the Boyden Cemetery with the Sanborn Funeral Home Service in charge.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Grooters, Lyle Grooters, David De Vries, Glenn Grooters, Stanley Grooters and Bernard Grooters.

Mrs. Cornelia Grooters, nee Cornelia Versteeg, daughter of Arie and Margaret Versteeg, was born near Pella, Iowa on September 22, 1877. She lived her youth and attended school in Sioux County.

She was united in marriage to William Grooters on February 16, 1899. After their marriage they farmed in the vicinity of Boyden, Sanborn, and Hospers, Iowa. They retired from farming and moved inro the town of Sheldon in 1952.

She entered the Nursing Wing of the Sheldon Hospital in September, 1966, and lived there until the time of her death on April 15, 1969.

She is survived by six children, Arie of George, Iowa; George of Bismark, North Dakota; Mrs. George (Margaret) Kloote of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mrs. Houston (Jeane) Colvin of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Mrs. Joe (Marie) De Vries of Orange City and Henry of Sanborn; twenty-seven grandchildren; and forty-seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Maggie) Grooters of Sheldon Christian Retirement Home and Mrs. Otto (Tillie) Rowenhorst of Monroe, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (in 1963), and one son, Bernard J. (in 1956).
