Chris Groeneweg, 70, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died Wednesday in a hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were Saturday in the George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. The Reverend Lyle Inglebret officiated. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Mr. Groeneweg was born November 30, 1911, on a farm near Doon. He was raised in that area and moved with his parents as a young man to a farm near Rock Rapids.

He married Bernice Eckhoff February 15, 1940, in Rock Rapids. They farmed in the Rock Rapids area until 1965 when they moved to Sioux Falls. He was employed by Tabbert Construction and Gage Brothers, later worked as custodian for Sunshine Food Market until retiring in the early 1970s.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Charles F. (JoAnn) Lang Jr. of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Adrianna Horton of Sioux Falls and three granddaughters.
