Russell V. Grau, 78, of Sioux City, Iowa, died on Friday, June 26, 1998, at a Sioux City Hospital after a brief illness.

Services were held on Monday afternoon, June 29, 1998, at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, the Reverend Donohue Sarff, pastor of Morningside Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial with military graveside services provided by American Legion Post #1981, was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Mr. Grau was born April 17, 1920, at Ireton, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Lola (Lean) Grau. He married Marjorie H. Rembe on October 21, 1939, in Le Mars, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Knoepler Chevrolet for 37 years, and was the Service Manager there until his retirement. He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Thomas and Susie Grau of South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Scott and Jacquelyn Grau of Davey, Nebraska; a daughter and her husband, Connie and Stanley Eriksen of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Doug, Eric, Matthew, David, Dustin, Danielle, Rachelle, Eric, Bryan, Richard and Nathan; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a sister; and a brother.
