F. Elwood Grau, 79, of Littleton, Colorado and formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, died on June 14, 1998.

Elwood was born March 19, 1919, at Ireton, Iowa the son of Ora C. and Jennie F. Brown. He attended school at Ireton, graduating from Ireton High School with the Class of 1937. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in January of 1941, and served in the European Theater with the 2nd Armored Division under General Patton for 2 ½ years during WWII. He was discharged in May, 1945.

He married Margaret Meis of Le Mars in September of 1945. He was employed with Plymouth County REA for 18 years before moving to Littleton in 1965. In Colorado, he was employed by Intermountain Rural Electric Association until his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of Wesmer American Legion Post of Le Mars, and was a member of the Golden Kernels Drum and Bugle Corps for many years.

Elwood is survived by his wife, Margaret; three sons and their wives, Gary and Leslie Grau, Curtis and Mary Grau of Colorado, and Kevin and Debbie Grau of California; one grandson, Jason; a step-granddaughter, Charlene; one brother, Robert Grau of Hemet, California; several brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bernard Grau of Le Mars.
