Mrs. Eldoris Dykstra, age 80, of Alta, formerly of Hull, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, February 8, at 10:30am, at the First Baptist Church in rural George. The Rev. Dr. Michael Hagan will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be after 9:30am on Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Eldoris Irene was born on June 5, 1936, at Boyden, the daughter of William J. “Bill” and Nellie Marie (Dickmann) Tiedemann. She was baptized on June 18, 1936, at her parents’ home and confirmed on March 22, 1951, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church north of Hull.

She attended country school in rural Boyden and in 1943 moved with her parents to Hull, where she attended the No. 5 country school. As a teenager, she was a waitress in a coffee shop.

On May 12, 1959, “Doris” married Wayne Kenneth Kruse at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. They made their home in Little Rock and Rock Rapids. Wayne passed away on July 4, 1978, in Rock Rapids, after nineteen years of marriage. She then was a waitress at Lane’s Café and the Hess Café in Rock Rapids.

On June 5, 1987, she married Arthur Dykstra in Hull, where they made their home. “Art” passed away on January 3, 2015, in Hull, after 27 years of marriage. She then moved to Welcov Assisted Living in Alta.

Mrs. Dykstra was a member of the First Baptist Church and also attended the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Hull. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she cherished her husbands’ families.

She liked baking, cleaning, and cooking. She enjoyed life to the fullest and never gave up.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Kordell and Carolyn Kruse, of Aurelia; her daughter and her husband, Judy and Gary Borman, of Rock Rapids; four grandchildren, Alyssa Kruse; Jayd Borman, and his wife, Missy; Joshua Borman, and his wife, Sheri; and Caleb Borman, and his fiance, Lacy; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Bakker, of Sioux Center; and Shirley, and her husband, Lanny Winter, of Boyden; two sisters-in-law, Martia Tiedemann, of Lake Benton, Minnesota; and Ann Tiedemann, of Hull; and a brother-in-law, Henry Arends, of Ellsworth, Minnesota.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Kruse; and two brothers, Delmar Tiedemann and Donald Tiedemann.
