Mrs. Jellis Grandia, living north-west of this city, died last Thursday morning after a lingering illness of several weeks of typhoid fever. Up to the time of her illness, she was a strong, healthy woman.

Elizabeth was the daughter of Cornelius and Helena (Van Stoutenburg) Jongewaard. She was married to Jellis Grandia in Orange City in 1876. They had six children: Helena (Lena), Jacob (Jake), Cornelius (Corny), Anthony (Tone), Albert and Maria.

The funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Van Der Ploeg. She was buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, Sioux County, Iowa.

Their son Albert died two days after Elizabeth was buried. He is buried next to his mother in her parent’s family lot.
