Leonard Grady died at his home in Baker Township, after a long illness, at the age of 70 years; his soul fled to a better home on Sunday evening at half past six. Five years ago on the same day and about the same hour of the day his dear wife had preceded him there.

He came to this country while quite a young man. He was a veteran of the civil war and has for many years been a patient sufferer from diseases contracted on the camp grounds.,

Leonard married Anna Hecker in 1868. Nine children are left to mourn the death of their beloved father: Mathias, Mary, Anthony, Christopher Sylvester, Theresa, Theodore, Lucy, John, John Frank and Rose.

His remains were laid to rest Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in the Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery , Granville, Sioux County, Iowa, and were followed by a large number of friends.
