TOM GRADY OF GRANVILLE FATALLY INJURED SUNDAY A.M.

Thomas M. Grady, 21, of the Granville vicinity, was fatally injured early Sunday morning and Lyle Niebuhr, 24, also of Granville is still in Critical condition after the Niebuhr car rammed into the rear end of a stalled truck. Grady died on reaching the Le Mars Hospital.

The truck driver, Donald F. Luke of Long Prairie, Minnesota was not injured. He was later charged with failure to set flares after his truck stalled.

Patrolman Lyle Pell reported that when he arrived on the scene, two passersby, Orrie Koehlmoos and Robert Reimer of Orange City had taken the two men to the Sacred Heart Hospital. The accident happened on Highway 33 at Seney. The Niebuhr car, a 1956 Ford was reported a total loss. It was traveling north.

Grady died from a broken neck and his friend was suffering from brain concussion and fatal cuts when found. He had not regained consciousness Monday.

Thomas Grady was born February 15, 1936 at Granville and assisted on the farm of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray N. Grady. He attended St. Joseph School. He was a member of the National Guard, Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers, namely: Donna, Mrs. Lloyd Full of Sioux City; Rosalie of Spokane, Washington; Colleen ,Terrance, Patrick and Sandra at home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Schwebach and C.S. Grady of Granville.

His grandmother, Mrs. C.S. Grady, was killed in an auto-bus accident in Sioux City last December. According to Father N.J. Becker, Tom is the seventh young person from St. Joseph Parish to be killed in tragic car accidents during the past four years.

Services were held at St. Joseph Church, Granville Wednesday morning, Reverend Becker officiating.
