Mrs. Norman (Tillie)Treinen, 80, of Remsen died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 19, 1994 at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida.

Services were held Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. The Reverend John J. McGuirk officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Granville under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mrs. Treinen was born July 15, 1913 at rural Remsen, the daughter of John P. and Susan (Treinen) Schiltz. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area. She married Theodore Goergen November 28, 1940 in Remsen. The couple farmed near Granville. Mr. Goergen died May 15, 1956, and she moved into Granville in 1958. She had been a cook with the St. Joseph’s school lunch program for several years. She moved to Remsen to care for her father in 1960. She married Norman Treinen January 20, 1962 in Remsen. They farmed near Remsen until 1974 when they retired and moved into town.

Mrs. Treinen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Catholic Order of Foresters of Remsen and she was a charter and current member of Catholic Daughters of America of Granville.

Survivors include her husband; five stepsons, Daniel and his wife Rose Mary of Hubbard Lake, Michigan, Thomas of Barefoot Bay, Florida, Max and his wife Suzanne of Remsen, Wayne and his wife Linda of Laguna, California, and Richard and his wife Pat of Sioux City; two stepdaughters, Mary and her husband Gerald Bruening of Fort Dodge and Rose Treinen of Fort Dodge; 21 step-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter; Two brothers, Vernon, and Cletus and his wife Marge all of Remsen; and three sisters, Mrs. Ambrose (Rose Mary) Forkenbrock of Shell Knob, Missouri, Mrs. Larry (Armella) Kurth of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Mrs. Glenn (Kitty) Pick of Remsen.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Peter (Callista) Konz, Mrs. Kenneth (Clarinda) Holt, Mrs. Maynard (Loretta) George and Mrs. Clyde (Norma) Means.
