HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Richard Lloyd Millikan, 91, of Hawarden, Iowa died on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
   Richard Lloyd Millikan was born December 22, 1925 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Vivian Mae (Cooper) Millikan. He attended school in Hawarden.
   Richard married Beryl Harkness on November 18, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home in Hawarden. He worked as a mechanic for Truesdell Motors and later worked at Coilcraft, Inc. doing building and grounds maintenance until he retired in 2002 at the age of 77.
Richard was a quiet man but loved his wife, sons and grandchildren deeply. Richard enjoyed watching and listening to birds, tending to his garden and spending time with his grandchildren.
   Survivors include a son, Ted Millikan of Hawarden; brother, Robert Millikan and wife, Esperanza (Hope) of Ravenna, Nebraska; a sister, Marceline (Millikan) Garner and husband James of Cameron, Missouri; a sister, Lois (Millikan) McGinnis of Plattsburg, Missouri; a brother, Glenn Millikan and wife, Nancy of Hamilton, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Pauline Harkness of Elk Point, South Dakota; a granddaughter, Alicia Millikan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a granddaughter, Corissa Millikan of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a granddaughter, Melissa (Millikan) Mouw and husband, Brent of Sheldon, Iowa; a granddaughter, Tricia (Millikan) Van Meeteren and husband, Jason of Sheldon, Iowa; a granddaughter, Season (Millikan) Kuiper and fiancé, Joe Miller of Waukee, Iowa; a granddaughter, Erica (Millikan) Jager and husband, Michael of Sheldon, Iowa; a granddaughter, Michelle (Millikan) Warnock and husband, Mark of Minnesota; a grandson, John Millikan and wife, Tiffany of Hawarden, Iowa; a grandson, Jeremy Millikan and wife, Marty of Hull, Iowa; a grandson, Jeff Millikan and wife, Crystal of Washington. Richard had 27 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, Abbigail and Annika (Corissa); Keaton, Ethan, Brielle and Dulcie (Melissa); Cameron, Reese and Payton (Tricia); Khloe (Season); Macy, Reed and Gage (Erica); Michael Watkins, Matthew Watkins and wife Nina, Jesse McKee and Shaylen (Michelle); Drake and Avery (John); Lexi, Alec and Laney (Jeremy); Kaitlyn, Jacobe and Kortney (Jeff); and 4 great-great-grandchildren, Elyiah, Savannah, Brody and Luca (Michelle).
   He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Beryl; two sons, David and Erwin; a sister, Carol Millikan; a brother-in-law, J. Rolland McGinnis; a brother-in-law, Alvin Harkness; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Dimmick, Benita Livingston and Beatrice Hall.
