October 21, 1930 - January 15, 2017

Rock Valley, IA: Loraine Vande Kamp, 86, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, IA. Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 19, at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley with grandson Rev. Nick Alons officiating alongside Rev. Matt Haan. A private graveside service will occur at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be Wednesday, January 18, at First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent online to www.porterfuneralhomes.com. Loraine Vanden Bosch, daughter of John and Henrietta (Vande Vegte) Vanden Bosch, was born October 21, 1930 in Rock Valley, Iowa. Loraine graduated from Western Christian High. She married Hilbert Vande Kamp November 9, 1949 at First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley. The couple began married life in Sheldon, Iowa, moved to Ireton, Iowa, and settled in Rock Valley in 1960. They remained there until moving to Sheldon due to declining health.  
Loraine was devoted as a wife and mother. She poured her energy into the lives of her children and grandchildren and also served as a care giver for infants Sandra and Brenda Bakker.  After her children were grown, Loraine held part-time jobs including making beautiful flower arrangements, and spotlessly cleaning city offices, the library, and Rock Valley Christian School. Leisure hours were spent reading, baking, and crocheting keepsakes for grandchildren. After retirement, she and Hilbert travelled many miles to enjoy activities of children and grandchildren.  She will be remembered for her devotion and willing service to others.
Survivors include her husband Hilbert of sixty-seven years, daughter Glenda Kragt (Roger) of Bradenton, Florida and their children Libby, Janel, and Nathan; daughter Sandy De Groot (Jerry) of Valparaiso, Indiana and their children Kim, Darren, and Mark; daughter Vickie Alons (Mike) of Sheldon, Iowa and their children Jon, Nick, and Kristy; son Hilbert Dean Vande Kamp (Leasa) of St. Louis, Missouri and their children Cassie, Kayla, and Kevin; and son Larry Vande Kamp (Heidi) of Pella, Iowa and their children Jordan and Brandan. Her fourteen grandchildren have blessed her with thirty-four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings: sister, Nina Bolkema of Sheldon, and two brothers, Leonard and Marvin Vanden Bosch both of Rock Valley. She was also very appreciative of Hilbert’s siblings Alfred and Winnifred De Jong, Marvin and Harriet Vande Kamp, Geri Van Holland, Marla Vande Kamp, Allen and Marlene Vande Kamp, Celia Ten Napel, Vern and Leona Vande Kamp, and Nelson and Norma Nikkel.  Loraine was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren.
