Mr. Clifford Mouw, age 87, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, January 10, at 10:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Haverdink will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Tuesday, at 9:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the funeral home.

Clifford John was born on December 14, 1929, at Orange City, the son of John H. and Francena (Dieleman) Mouw. He was raised in Orange City, where he graduated from the Orange City Christian School and from the Northwestern Academy, and attended the Northwestern Junior College.

On December 14, 1950, he married Shirley Mae Rowenhorst in Orange City, where they made their home. They were members of the First Reformed Church, where he taught Sunday School classes, and was a youth group leader, an elder, a deacon, and a member of the Senior Choir. He was a farmer for many years, until he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He then became office manager for Dr. A. J. Neumann at the Sioux Veterinary Clinic in Orange City. Following Dr. Neumann’s retirement, he became a salesman of agricultural products. His last employment was at the Vogel Manufacturing Company in Orange City.

Cliff enjoyed collecting miniature farm toys and watching westerns and musicals.

Survivors include his wife of more than 66 years; two daughters and their husbands, Rhonda and Bob Van Es, of Sioux Center, and Janna and Al Kingma, of Hawarden; five grandchildren, Erin and Bryan Prins, of Ballwin, Missouri; Robin Van Es, of Sioux Center; Jeremy and Tami Mason, of Grimes; Kara and Todd Neu, of Denver, Colorado; and Jamie and Tyler Busch, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight great-grandchildren, Viviane, Lucy, Jack, Kirbee, Brooks, Sierra, Malaki, and Micah; a sister-in-law and her husband, Lila and George Boerhave, of Sheldon; a step-brother-in-law and his wife, Darwin and Joan Zeutenhorst, and a step-sister-in-law, Wanda Zeutenhorst, all of Orange City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, The Rev. Henry and Emily Mouw; two sisters and their husbands, Artella and Gerald Bosch; Marlys and Carl Pennings; a sister-in-law and her husband, Aleene and Preston Wobbema; a step-sister-in-law, Harriet Puff; and a step-brother-in-law, Marvin Zeutenhorst.
