Mr. Curtis Lund, age 79, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, January 2, at 10:30am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Vande Zande will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Monday, at 9:30am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation will be after 2:00pm on Sunday, with the family present from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the funeral home.

Curtis Kermit was born on November 19, 1937, at Fossten, Minnesota, the son of Sigurd and Inga (Lund) Lund. He was raised in Fossten, where he graduated from high school. In 1961, he moved to Orange City.

On July 17, 1964, he married Alice Van Hill in Orange City, where they were members of the First Christian Reformed Church. He was a truck driver for Russell’s Ready Mix. Within the last year, he was a resident at both the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull and the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

He enjoyed tinkering with things, playing computer and video games, reading, and watching westerns.

Survivors include his wife of more than 52 years; two children, Dave Lund, and his wife, Tami, of Boyden, and Laura De Jong, and her fiancé, Pat Wurth, of Remsen; six grandchildren, Brandon Lund; Andrew Lund; Kristina Lund; Amy, and her husband Bret Tiedeman; Kyle De Jong; and Kayla De Jong, and her significant other, Marcus Barron; four great-grandchildren, Tayden, Taije, and Kandyn Tiedeman, and London Barron; a brother, Stanley Lund, and his wife, Shirley, of Fullerton, California; a sister, Deloris Lund, of Orange City; Alice’s siblings, John Van Hill, and his wife, Mary, of Le Mars; Ann Van Hill, of Orange City; Esther, and her husband, Jim Bouwman, of Rock Valley; and Milly, and her husband, Mark Chapman, of Le Mars; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Allie Hackett and Cecelia Oldenkamp; and a brother, Julius Lund.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Christian School and the Unity Christian High School.
