A YOUNG LIFE GONE--TOM GEFKE SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS OF SEVERAL YEARS DURATION

Thomas Edward Gefke died Tuesday morning at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andreas and Wilhelmina (Mundt) Gefke, in this city, after an illness that covered the greater part of three and one half years. The deceased was born in Hawarden April 15, 1890, and with the exception of the time he has spent elsewhere during the past few years to recuperate his failing health, he has made his home here. His ailment was such that it baffled the skill of all physicians and the ministrations of kind and loving hands.

Brief funeral services were held at the home at 2 o’clock this afternoon and then the body was taken to the German Lutheran Church where Reverend G. Hoelscher preached the funeral sermon.

The deceased was one of Hawarden’s bright boys and was held in the high esteem by all who knew him. It is indeed sad that a life which only a few short years ago was so full of promise should thus be taken from loving home ties and friends. He leaves a father, mother, sister and brother to mourn his death.
