FUNERAL SERVICES HELD WEDNESDAY FOR ANNA MARIE MARGARETHA GAYER

Funeral services for Anna Marie Margaretha (Hamann) Gayer, 67, were held Wednesday, January 18 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with the Reverend Alfred Kampins officiating. Burial was in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery under the direction of Porter Funeral Home.

Sam Ver Hoef was soloist with Doris Kock at the organ. Pallbearers were Donald Miller, Robert Salem, Vernon Hamann, Art Klein, Fred Gayer and Carl Callied.

Mrs. Gayer died suddenly of a heart attack at her home Sunday. She had been hospitalized recently with a heart condition but was not believed to be recovering satisfactorily. Her daughter Marian, Mrs. Herman Kooima of Clearwater, Florida, had arrived recently to be with her mother.

Mrs. Gayer was born September 13, 1899, at Lagerdorf Schleawig Hulstein, Germany. She came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William and Lola (Lahn) Gayer in 1913. September 10, 1918 she was married to Gottlob Gayer at Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Center. She had lived in this area since she came to this country. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church but joined active membership at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Rock Valley where she was a member of the A.L.C.W. organization, as well as being active in other community affairs.

Survivors include two sons, Bernard and Lloyd of Rock Valley; four daughters, Mrs. Marian Kooima, of Clear Water, Florida, Mrs. Harry (Berdena) Buma, Mrs. Melvin (Rose Maria) Kramer, Waverly, Iowa, and Mrs. Walter J. (Joyce) Warnptjes of Rock Valley; and 19 grandchildren. Also six brothers: William Hamann, Englewood, California, Henry, Gardenia, California, Max, Fritz, Theodore, and Karl Hamann, all of Rock Valley; four sisters, Mrs. Ernest Miller, Mrs. Cliff Moore, Mrs. Bertha Splear all of Rock Valley, and Mrs. Henry Junge of Sioux City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1939 and infant son and daughter, Bernice in 1945.
