From the Boyden Reporter, November 10, 1921:

Johann Sohl

Sohann[i.e., Johann] Sohl was born at Hanover, Germany, on the 23rd day of September, 1837, and died on Wednesday, November 2nd, 1921, at the home of his son-in-law Chris. Hollander. He was 84 years, 1 month and 9 days of age. Funeral services were held last Saturday, at the St. John's Lutheran church, with Rev. Wm. Baetke officiating. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

Deceased was married in Germany in the year of 1867, and in 1893 he moved his family to America, and settled in Sioux County. He leaves six children to mourn his death. They are William and Henry F. of Hull, and August, Fred, Gustav, and Mrs. Chris. Hollander all of Boyden. Besides his children, he has two sisters who live in Germany.

Mr. Sohl was for years a member of the St. John's Lutheran church, and was a man of strong christian character. The cause of his death was old age, having been ailing for only the past two months. Before his last sickness, he hardly knew what it was to be sick, as he always enjoyed the best of health. The Reporter extends its sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
