From the Rock Valley Bee, September 23, 1921:

Word was received here the first of the week that Mrs. John Milhousen, a former resident of this vicinity, died Tuesday [Sept. 20] at her home in Maquoketa, Iowa, from diphtheria, which she contracted from a severe cold. The Milhousen family visited in Rock Valley scarcely two months ago, while on an auto trip across the state. For a number of years they lived on their farm southwest of Rock Valley. They moved from here to Maquoketa about three years ago. They have many friends in this vicinity who will be grieved to hear of their bereavement.
