Mrs. Bookmiller Suffers Stroke Mrs. Maude Bookmiller, who is now with her daughter in California, suffered a slight stroke September 10 at Skaggs -Springs. Word from her daughter, Mrs. Don Broscha, is that she is improving. After Mrs. Bookmiller left Hawarden she was in charge of the telephone exchange at Hudson until the dial system was installed. Later she worked at Sioux Falls and Canton

Bookmiller Rites Held Sunday At Hudson Church
Mrs. Maude Bookmiller of Sonoma. Calif., formerly of Hawarden, died Friday, December 31.
Mrs. Bookmiller's health began to fail last summer and she went to California to be with her daughter, Mrs. Don Broscha at Sonoma. In September she suffered a stroke and was cared for in a hospital for some weeks. Then in December she became seriously ill and again entered the hospital. The body was brought back to Hudson and funeral services were held at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery in Hawarden. Mr. and Mrs. Broscha and son, who accompanied the body, were marooned at Cheyenne several days.

Mrs. Bookmiller lived in Hudson where she was in charge of the telephone office for many years. When the dial system was installed at Hudson she was transferred to Canton. While she lived at Hudson her husband and son Eldon died. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Broscha

Note: From Find a Grave comes info that Maude was born 15 Feb 1887 died 31 Dec 1948 buried in Grace Hill cemetery Hawarden IA. She was Maude Sullivan Bookmiller. Her husband was John H. Bookmiller 1890-1933
