Died: 1932

The Ireton community was shocked and saddened Monday morning when word was passed about that Samuel French had died sometime during the early hours of Monday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Grau.

At about nine thirty Mr. and Mrs. Grau became worried because Mr. French had not yet put in an appearance. This was contrary to his habits as he was an early riser. They went to his room to investigate and found him lying partly dressed on his bed dead. It is thought that he started to get up real early but was overcome with a heart attack before he had completely dressed.

Funeral services were held from the Grau home and the Methodist Episcopal Church on Wednesday, Reverend C. Thompson took charge of the funeral.

Mr. French was born in Washington Township on April 4, 1872. He was unmarried and had made his home for sometime with the George Grau family. A sister, Mrs. J. Corey of Los Angeles, a brother, William of Grady, South Dakota and two brothers in Florida survive him. Mrs. Fred Parker of Ireton is his niece and Mr. A. L. Coons is a nephew.
