De Graaff Services Held Tuesday
Christiaan De Graaff was born at Oosterbeek, in the Netherlands on January 4, 1881 and died at the home in Rock Valley on March 14 at the age of 76.
Services were held Tuesday at the First Reformed church. He came to the United States at the age of 28 in 1909 and lived for one year on a farm near Sheldon. From there he moved into Sioux county which was his home until his death. He had remained unmarried, all his life. In 1920, he and his brothers and a sister moved to Rock Valley. Some years later he became custodian of the First Reformed church, a position he, held for nine years. He retired from that work about five years ago. His father's name was Hein De Graaff, his mother's maiden name was Bertha Aalberts. He made profession of his Christian faith while still in the Netherlands and was transferred to the First Reformed church of Rock Valley by certificate in 1932.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mrs. Egbert Hooyer of Sioux Center and, Mrs. Hattie Ver Wey of Rock Valley. Five brothers preceded him in death.
Pall bearers were Wallee Mc Namara, Walter Van de Kamp, Sam Ver HoeŁ, Louis Middle,, William Broek and Teunis Hooyer.
