A YOUNG LIFE TAKEN--MISS GLADYS FRASER STRICKEN IN THE FULLNESS OF YOUTH

The hand of death has again entered one of Hawarden’s homes and taken from our midst another promising young life. Miss Gladys G. Fraser, the youngest daughter of Mrs. E.J. Fraser, passed to the Great Beyond at her home in this city about two o’clock last Friday morning following an illness of several weeks duration. The nature of her illness had not been such as to cause alarm until about a week before her death when she suffered a stroke of paralysis and from that time on gradually weakened until the end came.

The funeral service which was very largely attended was held at the Congregational Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Reverend A.F. Eldridge, and interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Gladys Fraser had not quite attained the age of eighteen years and was stricken in the heyday of youth, just on the threshold of young womanhood, when life seems to hold in store its richest blessings. It seems hard indeed to reconcile the loss of a life so full of promise and only through sublime faith in Him, who doeth all things well, are those near and dear able to bear their grief.

The deceased moved from Sioux City to Hawarden last summer with her mother in order to be with the other daughter of the family, Miss Lelah Fraser, who has been employed here as a stenographer for Schoeneman Bros. Company for several years. Miss Gladys was also a stenographer and was employed by Attorney C.A. Plank until stricken with her fatal illness. She was popular in church and social circles and her departure from this life will be sincerely mourned by the many friends who have been honored with her acquaintance, and the grief stricken mother and sister have the tender sympathy of the community in the loss which they have been compelled to endure.
