John Freriks Dies Suddenly At Alton, Funeral Tuesday

John Freriks, 52, died unexpectedly, apparently in his sleep Sunday morning, March 7, at the A. Hemmingson home, where he had been a roomer for some months.

Born at Orange City June 13, 1912, he was the son of the late Jake Freriks and Mrs. Freriks.

His mother, a patient in the geriatric ward at the Orange City hospital, survives him.

A brother, Dick of LaGrange, Illinois, preceded him in death.

He was a printer by trade and worked for many years for De Volksvriend at Orange City, and later was employed in LaGrange, Illinois. Returning to Orange City he had employment until last December at the Sioux County Capital. He was also employed for some months by the Alton Democrat.

Funeral services were held at the Van Etten Funeral Home in Orange City March 9 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Alvin A. Hook officiated and special music was a duet by John Bloemendaal and Mary Miedema, Mrs. Gordon Bloemendaal, accompanist.

Pallbearers were Donald Freriks, William Freriks, Norman Eason, Andrew Geels. Wayne Eason and John Post. Interment was in the Orange City Cemetery.

Following the services lunch was served to relatives and friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Freriks. Here for the services were his sister-in-law, Mrs. Dick Freriks and daughter of LaGrange, Illinois.
