The Boyden Reporter July 31, 1952

Mrs. Huibert Boender age 78 years, 11 months and two days passed away early Saturday morning, July 26th at the Hull Hospital. Dora Vanden Brink, daughter of Gerrit Vanden Brink and Dirkje Verhoef, was born Aug. 24, 1873 Emerlo, Netherlands. She came to this country with her parents in the year 1885. She settled on a farm south of Boyden. She was united in marriage to Huibert Boender on Sept. 6, 1900. She spent her entire married life in t h e Boyden community except for five years they lived near Granville.

She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Henry of Grinnell, Iowa and (Dora) Mrs. Henry J. Westra of Boyden, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and two brothers, Ed of Sheldon, Gerrit of Boyden one sister, Gertrude, Mrs. Rouwenhorst of Hospers. She is preceded in death by her husband who died in 1950, twin sons who died in infancy, two sisters , Mrs. Van Stryland, Mrs. G. Mouw and one brother Art.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon July 29 from her home and from the First Reformed Church in Boyden of which she w a s a faithful member. She was laid to rest in the Boyden Cemetery. A former pastor, the Rev.. John W. Brink of Orange City officiated. Pallbearers were : W. Boelsma, J. Grooters, R. Kamminga, J. Struyk, H. Van Nyhuis, J. Westra
