Warren L. French, 72, former Hawarden Oil Company operator who retired in 1959, died last Thursday night in the Veterans hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following a lengthy illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past five weeks.

Funeral services were held at the Associated Church in Hawarden Monday, January 8, with Reverend Herbert Young officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hal Shoemaker served as organist and Mrs. Ralph Gregg, jr., sang "My God and I" and "Crossing the Bar." Casket bearers were Robert Keehn, Lee Keehn, Guy Hodgson, Wren Wood, Conrad Falde, and Harley Marshall.

Mr. French was born July 3, 1895, at Hawarden, and he married Lucille Younie here October 19, 1922. He was a member of Two Oakes Post 254, American Legion.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, Charles, of Rochester, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Esther) Gregg of Palmdale, California, and Mrs. Neile (Frances) Gavin of San Diego, California, and two grandchildren.
