RITES FRIDAY FOR MRS. HOLLES WHO DIED MONDAY AT LE MARS

Funeral services for a beloved long-time resident of the Granville-Alton vicinity, Mrs. Catherine Forkenbrock Holles, who passed away at Le Mars Monday night will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Alton Friday morning at 10:30 o’clock.

Wake will be held this Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the Fisch Funeral Home at Remsen.

Mrs. Holles was born June 8, 1888, at Colesburg, Iowa, and was married to the late Fred Forkenbrock there on November 25, 1908. The couple had twelve children at whom eleven survive their parents as follows:

Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Hodapp, Milford, Iowa; Bernard, Earlville, Iowa; Mrs. Cletus (Marie) Sudtelgte, Remsen, Iowa; Joseph, San Diego, California; Ambrose, Junction City, Kansas; Herbert, Bourbonpals, Illinois; Mrs. Marvin (Rita) Delperdang, San Diego, California; Mrs. Audrey (Betty) Gengler, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Fred, Sheldon, Iowa; John, Waukesha, Wisconsin and Mrs. Ted (Ruth) Nelson, Parkville, Missouri. A little boy, Innocent, died at the age of four years.

She is survived by 56 grandchildren and 19great-grandchildren, and by the following three sisters and two brothers:

Mrs. William Gerken, Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. Leo Hoeger, Mrs. John Dalle and Ed Diers of New Vienna, Iowa and Will Diers, Colesburg, Iowa.

After their marriage in 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Forkenbrock lived on a farm west of Granville and then moved to Dyersville where they resided sixteen years before returning to the farm here in 1927. Mr. Forkenbrock died June 12, 1935, and on February 2, 1937, Mrs. Mrs. Forkenbrock was married to Frank Holles of Granville who passed away in 1949. Mrs. Holles moved to Remsen in 1950 but for the last three years had been cared for in geriatrics ward at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Le Mars.

She and the rest of her wonderful family, number their friends in the many hundreds in this section of Sioux County.
