Mrs. Peter Kruse Dead

Catherine Margueretta Hinsch Kruse was born February 5, 1845, and died at Sheldon, Iowa, Sunday March 20, 1921, aged 76 years one month and 14 days.

The deceased was born at Cadenberge, Hanover, Germany and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at that place. She was married there on April 18, 1872, to Mr. Peter Kruse. They had six children, four sons and two daughters, all of whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. Kruse moved to the United States in 1872, coming to Sheridan township, Sioux County, Iowa. There they lived for 25 years, moving in November 1897 to Sheldon, where they have lived ever since.

Mrs. Kruse enjoyed general good health nearly all of her life. Last Saturday morning she complained of not feeling well. Towards evening a doctor was consulted, but a little after midnight she became worse. At 1:30 Sunday morning she took the Lord's Supper and soon afterwards departed in peace.

The survivors are her husband, Peter Kruse; her sons John of Sheldon; Herman of Boyden; Fred of Sheldon and Peter of Boyden; and her daughters Mrs. P. J. Bunge, of Armour, S.D., and Mrs. H. Heitritter of Boyden. There are 25 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Meta Mory, who resides in the old country.

She was one of the founders of the Ladies Aid Society and a true and faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran congregation of Sheldon.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Sheldon, by the local pastor, Rev. Flentje, assisted by Rev. Bartke. The pall-bearers were her sons and sons-in-law.

A brief obit in the Alton Democrat, April 2, 1921, Hull news, adds that before moving to Sheldon her home had been on the farm 5 miles north of Boyden.
