Charlotte Elaine Tilstra-Goin, 54, passed away Thursday November 17, 2016 following a heroic battle with cancer. Throughout her illness Charlotte maintained the positive, forward-looking outlook that she carried throughout her life and served as an inspiration to all those around her. She continuously expressed her appreciation of those who supported and motivated her during her illness.
Charlotte was born in Hawarden, Iowa in 1962. As an adult she moved to Florida and resided in Sarasota, Tampa, Gainesville and High Springs. She spent many years working in medical billing customer support, and used her free time to become an excellent photographer. Charlotte also enjoyed traveling, experiencing nature and cheering for Gator football. Every Gator score was celebrated with a kiss for her husband Tim.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Timothy Goin of High Springs; her daughter, Corinne Currie of Big Rapids, Michigan; her parents, Richard and Carol (Abbott) Tilstra of Hawarden, Iowa and her brother, Richard Dean Tilstra of Sioux Falls, North Dakota.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street with Rev. David Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, November 21, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 2119 S.W. 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
