From the Rock Valley Bee, February 25, 1921:

DEATH OF HENRY KOCH

Henry Koch, the seventeen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koch of Sioux Township, Iowa, died Friday [Feb. 18?]. Henry had been an invalid most of his life, falling when he was a child, his spine being affected, tuberculosis of the spine gradually sapping his strength away. During the many years that he suffered, he ever received the tenderest care of his parents, his brothers and sisters, and they will miss him sadly even though his taking away was a relief to him.

He was born in Sioux County and lived in this county all his life, being seventeen years, eight months and seven days old at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the German Lutheran church, the remains being laid in the cemetery there. The bereaved parents and other relatives have our sincerest sympathy.--Hudsonite.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Kock, Henry H., b. 1903, d. 1921, son, Peace Luth Cem Rural Sioux Center IA. There are several other Kocks, including Fred C. and Anna, both also buried in Peace Cemetery. There are also several Kochs.

The 1920 U.S. Census has Fred (51) and Anna (46) Koch, immigrated from Germany in 1885, farmers, living in Sioux Township with several children, including Henry, age 16, the third oldest, a laborer on the home farm. Koch would be the more common German spelling.

No further information was located that would clarify definitively which spelling is correct for this family. There are news notes in the Rock Valley Bee that spell the surname Koch. There are obits for what appear to be other family members that spell the surname Kock.
