Dr. Robert Fisher, 88, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Orange City, died August 20, 2003, in Mesa.

A memorial service was held on Monday, September 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Mesa. There will be a memorial graveside service on Monday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m. at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
The Reverend Lizbeth Moss will officiate. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Robert Klein was born July 4,1915, in Orange City, the son of Dr. Edward and Gertrude (Klein) Fisher.

In 1940, he graduated from Iowa State College in Ames with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, he married Roberta Kann. They made their home in Orange City where he practiced with his father and an uncle, Dr. H. J. Wande Waa.

After their deaths, he entered into a partnership with Dr. Arlo Neumann. Roberta died May 17,1970, in Orange City.

In 1971, Dr. Fisher married Rhoda Grotenhouse. They lived in New York, where he was a veterinarian with the United States Department of Agriculture. In 1981, he retired and they moved to Leisure World in Mesa.

For 20 years he was very active in the Leisure World Lions Club, and he enjoyed many years of golf.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sandra Fisher of Scottsdale, Arizona, Pamela Fisher Bissell of Buffalo, New York and Patricia Fisher Grotenhouse of Rapid City, South Dakota; two stepchildren, Raelene Grotenhouse Walker of San Diego, California, and Craig Grotenhouse, who is married to "Patt"; five grandchildren, Daneal and Megan Grotenhouse, Jamie Herman, Robyn Denny, and Todd Bissel; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Lion Vision Center, 1016N. 32nd St. Suite2, Phoenix, Arizona. 85008.
