Delores, the daughter of William and Mary (Schneiders) Bohlke, was born on January 10, 1923, on the family farm near Granville, Iowa. She received her early education attending a one-room schoolhouse near Granville. Dee left school in the 8th grade to help her family out financially due to the depression. Dee married Roman J. Colling on September 19, 1950, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, Iowa. Roman and Dee resided in Spencer where Roman started Colling Electric. Dee was a wonderful homemaker and raised their children while helping Roman run the business. In 1969, she continued her education and earned her high school diploma in 1972. Roman and Dee operated the business for 37 years, before retiring in 1989. During their retirement, they enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved with the Catholic Daughters of America. Dee loved reading newspapers and cookbooks and was a master at writing letters. She attended daily mass as often as she could and her rosary was always by her side. She was a loving mother and role-model to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
