Rose M. Fischbach, 84, formerly of Granville, died Saturday in the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City after a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Monday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. The Reverend Francis J. Nemmers, the Reverend Charles Nemmers and the Reverend R.E. Nemmers officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Miss Fischbach was born June 23, 1900 in Granville the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Peter Fischbach (Anna Nemmers). She was raised and educated in Granville and was a life-long area resident. She was appointed assistant postmaster in Granville in November of 1921 and postmaster in June 1924. She was transferred to subclerk in 1947 and retired June 30, 1960. She had been residing at the Heritage House Nursing Home since the spring of 1981.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Third Order of St. Francis and an honorary member of St. Joseph’s Guild.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Joseph; five sisters, Sister Francesco (Alvina), Mrs. George (Agnes) Schmitz, Mrs. J.P. (Sylvia) Gaul, Mrs. Andrew (Mae) Schwebach, and Miss Veronica Fischbach.
