Mrs. Alice Finch, 71, died March 2, 1951 at her home following a brief illness.

Alice Carpenter was born in Big Springs Township, Union County South Dakota, March 21, 1879. She grew to womanhood on the farm, but for the past 40 years had lived in Hawarden. She married Orson Ray Finch.

She was a member of the Baptist Church of Hawarden and of June Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Louis House of Inglewood, California, two brothers, Fred Carpenter of Isanti, Minnesota, and Albert Carpenter of Hawarden; one sister, Mrs. Anna Westmeyer of Long View, Washington; and two grandchildren, Mrs. Cleone Melchert and Patricia House of Inglewood California;

A daughter, Mrs. Eldon Strong, and a brother, Ed Carpenter, preceded her in death.

Her daughter, Mrs. House, was summoned her when her mother became ill and later Mr. House also came.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Hawarden with Reverend Leon Nelson officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Frazier Funeral Home.

Out of town relatives at the funeral besides Mr. and Mrs. House, were Fred Carpenter and his daughter, Mrs. Bernard Larson of Isanti, Minnesota, and Mrs. Minnie Finch of Sioux Falls.
