Mrs. Mary Lou Reinders, age 86, formerly of Orange City, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at the Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, October 20, at 11:30am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Revs. Michael and Elizabeth Hardeman will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday at 10:30am at the funeral home.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, from 9:30am to 10:30am, at the funeral home.

Mary Lou was born on January 4, 1930, at Orange City, the daughter of Y.G. and Ella K. (Sebade) Mulder. She was raised in Orange City, where she graduated from high school.

On December 1, 1969, she married Gerard Reinders in Sioux City. They made their home in Orange City until 1978, when they moved to Sioux City, where she was a sales associate for Younkers. Later, they returned to Orange City, and more recently, she relocated to the Regency Square Care Center.

Mrs. Reinders was an active member of the American Reformed Church. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, playing bridge, gardening, and listening to country and gospel music. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate home, and will be remembered as a wonderful cook.

She is survived by her husband of more than 46 years, “Jerry”; three children, Michael Cohen, of Melvin; Anne Cohen, of Urbandale; and Kurt Cohen, and his wife, Dora, of Sioux City; three step-children, Jeff Reinders, of Sioux City; and Tim Reinders, and his wife Luann, and Todd Reinders, all of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Darby Earle, of Montana; Lindsey Cohen, of Urbandale; Julia Cohen, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Joseph Cohen, of San Diego, California; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Vogel, of Orange City, and Linda, and her husband, Brad Pietens, of DeKalb, Illinois.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Karl D. Cohen; seven sisters; and three brothers.
