Eldora was born on November 28, 1923 to William H. and Minnie C. (Winter) Jauken in Oxford, Nebraska. She was the seventh of fourteen children and worked hard on the farm with her siblings growing up.
When she was 20 she wrote a letter to a sailor who’s picture she saw in the paper, which led to coming to Iowa to meet him. She married her sailor, Cornelius S. Vanden Berg on October 12, 1945, and they made their home in Ireton, Iowa.

She was a giving person but did not expect anything back. She had a personality that most people may not have known. She could make us all laugh and smile at her witty humor and she sang songs to her children and grandchildren that will long be remembered.
Her husband Cornelius died on August 13, 2008.
Eldora is survived by her two sons, Clark of Southgate, California and Peter and his wife Karin of Sheldon, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Anita and Jim Bushby of Hawarden, Iowa and Corinne and Delwyn Postma of Ireton, Iowa; one brother, Lee Jauken and wife LaJean of Holdredge, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Donna Jauken of Holdredge, Nebraska, Anita Jauken of Lace, Washington, Eunice Jauken of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother-in-law, Rev.
