Delores “Dee” Koehler, 75, of Hartley, Iowa, formerly of Hawarden, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2016 at Rexwinkel-Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. Pastor Susan Juilfs from Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com

Delores “Dee” Jean (White) Koehler was born June 3, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Hill) White. She grew up in Hawarden, Iowa and graduated from Hawarden High School with high honors.

She worked at numerous jobs over the years while raising her family. She especially enjoyed working at the state hospital in Redfield, South Dakota and at her bar, “Dee’s Pussy Cat” in the historical district of 4th Street in Sioux City. Her last 4 years were spent at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley. The staff and residents enjoyed her spunk and smile; she could brighten anyone’s day.

She enjoyed reading, roller skating, ice skating, movies, and dancing in her younger years. But most of all, she enjoyed the times spent with her family, whom she loved very much.

Survivors include her daughter, Doretta (Dave) Button of Merrill, IA; her grandsons: Brett (Heather) Iverson of Hartley, IA, Sam Iverson of Le Mars, IA, Josh Iverson of Iowa, and Ian Button of Merrill, IA; her siblings: Tim White of Germany, Kathy (Rich) Chandler of Texas, Sherry Johnson of Minnesota, and Jim (Donna) White of Iowa; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Mary White; her sisters: Judy White and Marjorie Holgle; and her daughter: Jodie Iverson.
