From the Rock Valley Bee, November 12, 1920:

Rev. Dragth, a retired minister, of Sioux Center, died at his home last Friday [November 5] following an operation. He was eighty-one years old, and although he had retired from the ministry, he continued to fill appointments whenever his health permitted. He preached in the Reformed Church at Rock Valley a week ago last Sunday, and was taken sick here, and later removed to his home at Sioux Center where an operation was performed, from the effects of which he could not survive.

From the Hospers Tribune, November 19, 1920: Sioux Center news:

Rev. J. J. Dragt died after a week's illness, aged 81 years. He was a preacher for over 40 years and served as pastor for several congregations in Nebraska, Minnesota, Kansas, South Dakota and Iowa. He is survived by six children, 40 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

FORMER MUSCATINE MINISTER DIES AT SIOUX CENTER HOME

Word has been received here of the death of the Rev. J. J. Dragt of Sioux Center, Iowa, father of Mrs. J. A. Te Strake of this city. Death occurred at his home Saturday.

Twenty-three years ago the Rev. Mr. Dragt was pastor of the Reformed church of this city and has served several charges since that time. He retired from the ministry last year and moved to Sioux Center, Iowa where his oldest son resides.

The Rev. M. Dragt was born in Wolvega, Vriesland, Holland and came to this country in 1881. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, six children, 32 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The children are Henry Dragt of Sioux City, Iowa; Jacob Dragt of Prairie View, Kansas; Mrs. Wm. Graving of Prairie View, Kansas; Mrs. J. A. Te Strake of this city; Egbert Dragt of Stockhold, South Dakota and Mrs. H. Bruggers of Wilmar, Minn.

The 1920 U.S. census (Sioux Center) has him as John J. Dragt, age 80, no occupation, with wife Antje, age 77.
