On Tuesday morning as the rising sun caused all nature to proclaim the birth of a new day the immortal part of her whom we have known in life as Minnie E. Ballard, forsook its earthly abode and sought its Creator. After weeks of suffering, Mrs. Ballard yielded up her life and found rest where pain and sorrow are unknown. Nature had dealt unkindly toward her for more than a year and yet she here her afflictions with admirable fortitude and patience. She was taken ill last year while visiting her sister at Manchester SD, and for weeks her life was despaired of. She became convalescent but she was left weakened in bodily vigor and eyesight badly impaired. She returned to town, for the greater part of the time making her home with her husband’s parents in Hull. A few weeks ago she went to Des Moines to take medical treatment. She returned and was taken ill first with erysipelas which after developed into pneumonia. Her physical structure had been so weakened that she was unable to withstand the disease. Her rest came when her soul took its departure.

Minnie E . Mc Millan was born in Jasper bounty IA, July 25, 1872. While yet a young girl at the age of 13 she untied with the Christian church since which she had been a faithful copyist of the life of the Christ. Her parents moved to Sheldon where they lived for a number of years. Then removed to Des Moines,. She entered the millenary business in Hull in 97 since which time her life had been known to Hull people. On March 2, 1899 she was married to Ebenezer A. Ballard, who now is left to mourn the loss of one who was thoroughly good devoted and true. Mrs. Ballard was one of a family of six girls and two brothers. Her mother, brothers and sisters all survive her, her father having died in 1897.

Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Ballard moved to Sheldon where Mr. Ballard is employed as salesman for Jewett Bros. In Sheldon as in Hull Mrs. Ballard was prominent in literary and church work. Her friends were everywhere where she had acquaintances. The heartfelt sympathy of their friends is extended to the bereaved husband and relatives over the death of her whom all knew was what God intended her to be a noble Christian young woman.
