Boyden Reporter of Sept 7, 1900

M. Moret was born at Pella, Iowa, April 25, i860, and died at Boyden, Iowa Sunday morning, September 2, 1900, aged 40 years, 4 mouths and 7 days, and was buried Monday at Orange City, the funeral services being conducted in the Holland church, Monday at 1 o'clock. Rev. Wolvious preached the funeral sermon in Holland, after which Rev. Acheson assisted by speaking in English The large church was packed with with many relatives and friends, probably over 500 persons being present.

M. Moret was married June 3, 1887 to Miss W. C. Luymes and from this union six children were born, all of whom with the mother survive to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. His parents are both living at this time and bis mother was in attendance at the funeral but his father was too feeble to attend. After moving to Boyden Mr. Moret clerked two years for Sineenk & Meredith, and in November 1895 he entered into a partnership with Joe Hoog under the firm named Hoog & Moret and a year later he purchased the interest of Mr. Hoog and entered into a partnership with his brother John Moret, under the firm name of Moret Brothers and this firm has continued in business until the present time enjoying a very nice trade, although since the first of the year, they have been closing out their large stock preparatory to quitting business owing to Mr. Morets poor health.

He was a member of the Holland church here, and superintendent of the Sabbath school of that church. He was a member of the board of education and the Village Council, and always endeavered to to work in-harmony with all and and for the betterment of our little village. He was progressive, ear.nest and ambitious, and his demise is a severe blow to our little town as well as to his family and many friends.

Mike, as he was familiarly known to all, was held in high regard for his many sterling qualities and'"real" worth, and from the time of his first illness his wife, friends and family fought the grim reaper with every determination, and with every human agency for the recovery of his health. But all in vain. The time had come when he must pass into the great beyond and he was found ready. The immediate cause of his death was the closure of all passages of the liver and gall bladder, andland although the physicians in at attendance had been notified of the proper diagnosis, medical skill and loving care could not ward off the final outcome.

The family and friends have the sympathy of all our people in the severeaflictions that has been visited upon them, and all who ever knew him mourn the loss of a personal friend, for enemies, he had none.
