Gysbert Bakker, Sr.
Gysbert "Gys" Bakker Sr., 90, died Thursday, May 14, 1992, in his daughter's home in Rock Valley. Mr. Bakker was born March 3, 1902, in Barneveld, the Netherlands, and he came to the United Stales in 1919. He married Johanna De Kraai on April 8,-1927, in Slayton, Minn. They farmed near Chandler, Minn.,and Hudson, S.D., before farming near Rock Valley in 1941.

They moved to their daughter, Gert's home, in Rock Valley in 1990. Survivors include his wife; four sons: Gys Jr. of Hull, Iowa, John, Albert and Clarence, all of Rock Valley; five daughters: Bertha Leloux of Rock Valley, Nellie Keizer and Goldie Veldman, both of Hull,. Johanna Catchot of Norfolk, Va., and Gert Busby of Rock Valley; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two brothers; Gerrit of Modesto, Calif., and John of Rock Valley.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley, with burial in Valley View Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements
