MATLOCK PIONEER GOES TO LAST REST--MATLOCK NEWS SPECIAL

“In the midst of life we are in Death”. This truth is forcibly impressed on us in contemplating the demise of Mrs. Adolph (Margaret) Erfert, one of Matlock’s worthy and highly esteemed pioneers whose death occurred Monday afternoon, November 26, in Sheldon. The deceased was born in Germany and at time of her death was nearly 60 years.

She enjoyed a good degree of health and passed very suddenly and therefore was a shock to her many friends and relatives. She was the mother of five children: Henry, Albert, Fred, Emane, and Hiram who survived her and were present except Fred of Colorado to pay the last tribute of respect to a loving mother.

The funeral services occurred Friday afternoon at the Reformed Church. Reverend F. Berring of near George and Reverend J.W. Te Selle in the presence of a large concourse of sympathizing neighbors and friends of surrounding towns. Interment was made in the Ever Green Cemetery beside her late husband.
