From the Rock Valley Bee, July 16, 1920:

DEATH OF MRS. F. WASSENAAR

Mrs. Frank Wassenaar died at her home in Rock Valley Saturday morning [July 10] between two and three o'clock, after a lingering illness with consumption, aged forty-four years, eight months and sixteen days.

The subject of this sketch was born in [the] Netherlands where she received her early education and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Frank Wassenaar twenty-five years ago. To this union one son was born, Robert Wassenaar, who with his father is left to mourn. The family came to this country eighteen years ago and lived between Rock Valley and Hudson for several years, later moving to Rock Valley where they have since resided.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the late home of the deceased, the services being conducted by Rev. Colenbrander, and the remains were taken to Valley View Cemetery for burial.

Mrs. Wassenaar was a woman who was highly esteemed by all who knew her and the bereaved husband and son have the sympathy of friends and neighbors in their great sorrow.
