John Harlan, the 5 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Baartman, died in the Le Mars hospital about 11:00 o'clock Friday morning. He was born October 18, 1938. The child was up and around until Thursday morning although he had suffered with headaches and gland trouble. He was taken to the Sacred Heart hospital Thursday evening. The child suffered from diabetes.

John Harlan is survived by his parents, six brother and one sister. Funeral services were held at the Christian Reformed church Tuesday.
