     Erwin Roy De Boer, age 73 of Hills, MN died Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home in Hills, MN.
 
     Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Thursday, September 29th at Reformed Church of Steen Steen, MN.
 
     Private family committal service will be at the United Reformed Cemetery in Hills, MN.
 
     Visitation will be Wednesday, September 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills.
 
     Erwin Roy De Boer was born August 23, 1943 in Sanborn, Iowa, the son of Frank and Berdella (Vander Meulen) De Boer. He lived in Sanborn, IA, Harris, IA, Round Lake, MN and Lake Park, IA. He began attending Christian Elementary School in Ocheyden, IA. When they moved to Lake Park, IA he attended public school; while living in Hills, MN he attended the Hills Christian school. He finished his education at Western Christian High School in Hull, IA. As a young man he helped his father with his grinding business and worked for local farmers. He later worked for Larson’s Hardware and Duel Manufacturing. He also joined the U.S. Army Reserve and served from 1964 until 1970.
 
     Erwin was united in marriage to Faith Kroon on September 8, 1967 at The Reformed Church of Steen, Steen, MN. Three children were born to this union. They lived in rural Rock Rapids, IA and Steen, MN before moving to their home in Hills, MN in 1985. He worked at Schoon’s Automotive (Papik’s Automotive) in Luverne, MN before purchasing Henry’s 66 Service Station in Hills, MN in 1978.
 
     He was a member of The Reformed Church of Steen, Minnesota Puller & Tower Association and the Hills American Legion Post No. 399. He enjoyed camping with family, original classic cars, participating and attending cars shows. He enjoyed anything that was mechanical. Most of all he loved his family and grandchildren. His customers were also very important to him.
 
     This past Monday morning, September 26, 2016, Erwin died unexpectedly at his home in Hills. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 49 years, Faith De Boer of Hills, MN; three children, Mark (Kelly) De Boer of Hills, MN, Sharon (Denny) Doerr of Hills, MN and Pamela (Shane) McMath of Rapid City, SD; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Chuck (Rheta) De Boer of Sanborn, IA and Burdett “Butch” De Boer of Alvord, IA; four sisters, Mary (Allen) Van Raalte of Sioux Falls, SD, Alma (Erwin) Kooistra of Rock Valley, IA, Mina Brandt of Remsen, IA and Carmen (Greg Todd) Dougherty of Valley Springs, SD.
 
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Berdella De Boer.
